NEUROTOXIN
A thorough consultation and health history will be taken on arrival. We will then discuss your lifestyle, skin care regimen, address your concerns and develop a treatment plan. Tēo Aesthetics will check in with you the following day and again in 12-14 days to determine if you are happy with your results and if an additional appointment is necessary to refine your treatment.
At Tēo Aesthetics, we carry Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. All of these products are derived from the same substance of botulinum toxin type A; however, Botox and Dysport contain an accessory protein, and Xeomin does not.
Botox, FDA-approved in 2002, was created by the company Allergan. It is the most well-known and widely used neurotoxin in the United States. It has a precise spread from the injection site (1-1.2cm), can take 4 days to see results and up to 2 weeks to reach full effect. It generally peaks around six weeks and will last 2-4 months, depending on the patient.
Dysport, began its journey in Europe and was FDA-approved in the United States in 2009. It has a similar makeup to Botox and has a slightly larger spread when injected. You can begin to see results with Dysport in 2-4 days.
Xeomin (pronounced zeo-min), the naked toxin, was FDA-approved in 2010 and does not contain an accessory protein. Xeomin is considered a “pure” form of botulinum toxin which reduces the possibility of allergic reaction and resistance from long-time use. It generally takes 4-7 days for onset and 2 weeks to reach full effect.
The number of units required will vary for each person based on the region we are treating, your intended result, your lifestyle, and your daily habits and skincare regimen. For an average upper face treatment (frown lines, forehead, and crow’s feet) you can expect about 30-60 units of tox.
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are priced at $12/unit. An average treatment is typically around $400.

Side effects include injection site pain, irritation, headache, eye dryness, and temporary bruising. Patients can take Tylenol for any discomfort and use topical arnica for bruising.
Potential risks include product migration into neighboring muscles which could result in unintended effects. To avoid this, it is important to follow the after-care instructions provided.
While not pain-free, most patients describe the injections as a slight pinch. It is not uncommon to have a headache and/or minor swelling for 24 hours post injections. We will do everything we can to ensure your comfort.
We recommend pairing your neurotoxin injections with medical-grade skincare to extend longevity. Each patient should be using a retinol, SPF, and vitamin C serum to protect your investment. Depending on the choice of neurotoxin used, effects can be seen within 3 days, with full effect around 14 days. Results typically last an average of 3-4 months, depending on the patient’s lifestyle.
It is important to remember that dose equals duration, meaning the more product injected, the longer it will typically last.
Many men are starting to notice that they hold a lot of tension between their eyebrows, especially while concentrating. Generally, a neurotoxin treatment tailored to the male client will be focused on between the brows with a light sprinkling of product in the forehead and around the eyes, if desired. Many men that we have treated claim to feel more relaxed and less stressed when they lose the full ability to furrow their brows. Depending on lifestyle, you can expect to spend $300-$700 per treatment, with results lasting 2-4 months.
KYBELLA
The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that assists in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into small areas of unwanted fat, such as under the chin, it destroys fat cells permanently, resulting in an improved profile.
We will determine if you are a good candidate at your initial appointment, but the best candidate is someone over 18 with moderate to severe fat beneath the chin.
Unfortunately, you are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have swallowing issues or have bleeding or clotting disorders.
Patients report a burning sensation for 10-15 minutes after injection and then 3-7 days of swelling and tenderness to the area treated. There is a possibility of numbness in the area, this will usually subside in 2-3 weeks.
Topical numbing cream and ice will be applied before the treatment for comfort.
Most patients will need 2-3 treatments depending on the area and amount of excess fat. We will be able to determine this at your initial appointment.
Kybella is $450 per vial.
Each treatment requires 2-4 vials of Kybella. The number of treatments varies, but two treatments are average. Most people report a 70-80% improvement after their first treatment.
Yes, the results are permanent as long as your current weight at the time of treatment is maintained.
You can expect results at about six weeks following your treatment, and they will continue to improve for about six months.
